U.S. State Tax Agency Invests More than $380,000 in Kofax TotalAgility

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kofax Limited (NASDAQ: KFX), a leading provider of software to simplify and transform the First Mile of customer engagement, today announced that a U.S. state tax agency has invested more than $380,000 in Kofax TotalAgility and Kofax Analytics for Total Agility to automate manual processes and improve staff efficiency.

This department of taxation is critical to the fiscal well-being of the state it serves, processing tax returns and payments received, collecting unpaid taxes and administering all state tax matters. The agency is particularly active during the traditional income tax season from January 1 through April 15 of each year, when it processes approximately 15 million tax returns based on over 100 different forms. The agency typically hired 45 temporary employees over a six month period to manually enter information from these returns into the agencys tax administration systems. This approach was time consuming, prone to errors and costly.

This agency selected Kofax for the companys unique approach to solving the agencys process automation challenges. Kofax TotalAgility will streamline tax return processing and greatly reduce the number of temporary staff hired, resulting in significant cost savings. In addition, Kofax Analytics for TotalAgility will allow the agency to continually track the progress of each tax return as it is processed.

"Like all tax agencies across the U.S., this department of taxation collects a great deal of revenue for the state. Any errors or delays can be detrimental to the states fiscal health and taxpayers confidence in their elected officials," commented Howard Dratler, Executive Vice President of Field Operations at Kofax. "With Kofax TotalAgility, this agency will transform what had been a time and labor intensive process into one that is automated and streamlined, thereby lowering costs while increasing staff efficiency."

Kofax TotalAgility is the worlds first smart process application development and deployment platform. TotalAgility provides an essential link between an organizations systems of engagement and systems of record to help increase responsiveness to customers, improve service levels and gain competitive advantage in order to better manage and grow businesses while greatly reducing operating costs.

This sale closed in the fourth quarter of Kofaxs fiscal year 2015 and totaled over $380,000 in software license and maintenance services revenue.

Free tax preparation at Summit Senior Center in Mankato - Mankato Frugal Living

Good news for anyone on a limited income: The AARP TaxAide program will be providing free tax preparation again this year at the Summit Center, located at 518 South 5th Street in Mankato. Volunteer tax preparers will be available by appointment every Thursday and Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Thursday evenings, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Please call the Summit Center at 507-345-5262 to make an appointment and for information on what documents to bring to the appointment. Available dates in 2011 are February 3 through April 15. (Federal income taxes are due on Monday, April 18 this year because of a holiday on Friday, April 15, in Washington, D.C., followed by a weekend.)

Ginger Klink, local TaxAide coordinator, says that there is no upper income limit set for who may have their taxes prepared free. The service is free for everyone, but it gives special attention to seniors aged 60 and over.

Last year, about half of the 1,800 clients were senior citizens. The TaxAide program has never had to turn anyone away, although they did add on extra sessions to accommodate everyone at the end of the 2010 tax season.

The AARP TaxAide program is sponsored by the AARP Foundation and the IRS, in cooperation with the MN Department of Revenue.
